Island taxes

What are the rates in Fernando de Noronha?

  • TPA (Environmental Preservation Fee) - Compulsory

The TPA is the tax paid to the Government of Pernambuco, and is proportional to the number of nights you will spend on the island. It can be paid online at https://sin-web.noronha.pe.gov.br/pagar_tpa/ or at the immigration office on arrival on the island.

Who is exempt from TPA? Only children under 5 years old.

TIP: pay the TPA (Environmental Preservation Fee) ahead of time by going online. When you land on the island, the immigration queue is divided between those who have already paid the TPA and those who haven't yet. Generally, the queue for those paying on the spot is longer, and generally the queue for those paying in cash is also shorter than the queue for those paying by card. Another option is to go to the website and fill in the form, so you don't have to fill it in when you pay.

  • Entrance to the National Marine Park.

Admission is charged on the island because 70% of the archipelago's territory is within an integral preservation area called a National Park. As with other National Parks in the country, such as Corcovado, Iguaçu Falls and Chapada dos Veadeiros, to enter these areas you need to show a ticket. In the case of the Noronha ticket, it can be paid for in a single payment and is valid for 10 days. Every time you enter any area within the National Park, such as Praia do Sancho, Baía do Sueste, Praia do Leão, some trails, dives and boat trips, you will have to present the ticket.

Tickets can be purchased at the ICMBio Visitor Center in Vila do Boldró or at https://tickets.parnanoronha.com.br/.

Who is exempt? Children under 12 and Brazilians over 60.

If you pay for more days and decide to stay less, you will be entitled to a refund for the extra days you paid for. The same goes for those who have paid for fewer days and for some reason decide to stay longer. All you have to do is go to the TPA desk at the airport and settle the fees before you board your flight back to the mainland.
